This organization is affiliated with the Florida State Music Teachers Assocation and the Music Teachers National Association. The objective of this organization is to advance the interest of music and musicians in the Northeast Florida area. JMTA was founded in 1918 and has been an active organization in this area since that time.

Today in Music History:
Symphony No. 3 in C minor Op. 78 "Organ Symphony" by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns debuted at St. James Hall in London in 1886, with the composer conducting the Royal Philharmonic Society. According to the Britannica Encyclopedia, "it became one of the first widely praised symphonies by a French composer."
